Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
Here are some more of the points that Ryan Holiday talks about in his book.
Keep an inner scorecard. Even if your winning, be aware that other people's validation and external markers of success, are just that. They are external markers. It is best to keep an inner score card, realize your potential. What is the best that you are capable of? Keep at it. Paranoia creates things to be paranoid about. Seneca said that, "He who indulges empty fears earns himself real fears." If you let ego think that everyone is out to get you, you will seem weak... and then people will really try to take advantage of you. Be strong, confident, and forgiving. Always stay a student. Put yourself in a place where you do not know anything. Then observe and learn. Put yourself in that uncomfortable feeling and place on purpose. Do this deliberately, let it humble you. LENS neurofeedback creates a healing environment in the brain. It can help to defragment the brain and helps it to function better.

Mr. Holiday's research into learning about the ego and it's methods will continue here. I believe that this is important information about how to function in the world in a better way.
Don't be deceived by recognition, money and success--stay sober. Success, money and power can intoxicate. Learning to step back and look at your actions and how they are impacting others is vitally important. Become sober, refuse to indulge, detach yourself and look at how your creating your life. Leave self-absorption and obsessing over one's image for the egotists. Leave your entitlement at the door. We can take a look at some of the people that have created an empire and then lost it because of the lack of insight into how they are still human. This is again about looking at how your interacting with the rest of the world and if you feel your above it, watch out. You can loose what you have gained. Choose Love. When the ego gets a minor insult it can ruminate on this until it gets really big. This is when the reactions of the limbic system set in and then there is an explosion. Can you ask yourself if this reaction has ever helped a situation? Choose love, that means that you take an action, because love is a verb. You learn to compromise, communicate. Pursue mastery in your chosen craft. When you get good at what your doing then you become humble. This is because you know so little of what the big picture is about. There is always something to learn, someway to get better with a career or craft. LENS neurofeedback can help to get the communication level on the right track. Men, if you would like to have a better relationship, come and get some sessions. It is like going to therapy without all of the talk. You'll feel better! Mr. Holidays understanding of the ego continues.
The next point is let go of control. When people find success they can become micromanagers with a need to control everything. I have been in this situation of being told what to do at every second. This is probably one of my biggest challenges, so I need to watch myself so that I don't do this to others. The ego starts to control the environment with everything must be done my way, even inconsequential things. Smart people need to remind themselves of the limits of their power and reach. Place the mission and purpose above you. We need to remind ourselves to let go when we are involved and have the power to hand over a situation to another. When you find yourself in a hole--stop digging. This involves understanding when the ego is screaming and rattling when it is wounded. We will do anything to get out of trouble. This is when we stop and make a plan. LENS neurofeedback is a good way to get your brain up and running. It will create a healthy environment and create a flexible healthy life. The hero is he who smashes idols, and the idol of every man is his ego. Ibn 'Arbi
Shall we look into 3 more of Mr. Holiday's concepts about the ego? Here we go!! Connect with Nature and the Universe at large. Going into nature is a powerful feeling and we need to tap into it as often as possible. We are lucky in Colorado, but you can find this anywhere. When you are able to connect with nature on a fundamental level you can leave the world of material success in the background. We can leave the inner voice behind and just listen, breathe, and look. Choose alive time over dead time. Author Robert Greene writes about two types of time. There is dead time, when people are passive and waiting. and then there is alive time when people are learning, acting and utilizing as much of their time as possible. When the ego is alive and talking about dead time, the record goes like this, "I don't want this, I want_____. I want it my way. It chooses to be angry, aggrieved, heart broken. This is not your fault, you have been programed by everyone and everything around you. You have the power to change this story. Get out of your own head. Become aware of the sound track in your head. Whether this inner voice is telling you that your greater than the rest or that you are at the bottom of the ladder and need to have the recognition of those around you. Listen, do not fight it. Become aware of this inner story. Get to the facts and understand the reality of what is happening around you. LENS neurofeedback can help you to become more aware or discerning. Give it a try. Here are a few more of Mr. Holiday's insights into how to understand this ego of ours.
Learn to manage (yourself and others). How can you grow as a person if you keep constantly distracted and abandon one project for another. Leading others with micromanging skills is not wise either. It is not enough to be smart or a genius. Find out what works. Know what matters to you and ruthlessly say no to everything else. Our ego wants it all. Learn to integrate the concept of euthymia from the philosopher Seneca. This is understanding the tranquility of knowing what you are after and not being distracted by others. Forget credit and recognition. When we are starting out in out pursuits we need to make an effort to trade short-term gratification for a long-term payoff. Sweep the floor, clean the bathroom, do what needs to be done. You still might have to do these things in the future, but be humble. LENS neurofeedback works to create a higher functioning person. It keeps the necessity of drug intervention at bay. Be responsible for your health. Here are a few more of the ideas from Ryan Holiday about the ego.
Shun the comfort of talking and face the work. Do you want to start a creative endeavor? Face the "VOID" and get going. Do what makes you who you are. It is not easy, it can be difficult and frightening, but you will come out on the other side with a stronger foundation to stand on. Kill your pride before you lose your head. Humility is an antidote to pride. "Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first call promising." This is a good quote from Cyril Connolly. Stop telling yourself a story--there is no grand narrative. Even if you have found success, that does not mean that there will be success in the future. Focus on the present moment, not the story. This guy has done his research. Keep knocking on the door, you will find yourself on the other side LENS neurofeedback gets the brain working in the correct way. Do you know someone that could use some help? Send them me way.. A mother is clothed with strength and dignity, laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks her words are wise and she gives instructions with kindness.
Proverbs You are far more precious than jewels. Proverbs Everything I am, you helped me to be. Unknown I have so much of you in my heart. John Keats We are born of Love: Love is our mother. Rumi LENS neurofeedback is good for your brain. It helps it to become more flexible. Dana I found a man online who wrote a book, The Ego is the Enemy. His name is Ryan Holiday. Here is some of the research that he found while writing this book.
The artist Marina Abramovic has said that the moment that we begin to believe in our own greatness, we kill our ability to be truly creative. This is not always the easy way out. It takes awareness that will help you stay sober, clear-headed, creative and humble. He has 25 strategies for understanding this ego of ours. Here are a few. 1. Adopt a beginner's mind. Epictetus says, "It is impossible to learn that which one thinks one already knows." When we let the ego tell us that we have arrived and figured it all out, it prevents us from learning. Children are so good at wanting to know the wonderful things around us, learn from them. 2. Focus on the effort--not the outcome. Have you been able to be successful? This is created by letting go of what we have created, knowing that was our best effort and that it could still fail. This can only make us better at what we do. External rewards are just extra. 3. Choose purpose over passion. Passion runs hot and then burns out. People with purpose (passion combined with reason) are more dedicated and have control over their direction. Enough for today! Find a better way. Not always the easy way, it takes work. Try LENS neurofeedback. It is gentle and effective. It will help to get your brain running better. The seventh habit is called, sharpen the saw. This is about balanced renewal in all four dimensions of human need: physical, spiritual, mental and social/emotional. With this renewal you increase your capacity to produce and your ability to handle challenges. Taking time to renew is actually about saving time. Feeling good is about making a conscious effort to live a balanced life. Taking the time to plan and understand your strengths and weakness, creates good health and vibrant energy. All this takes is desire, knowledge, and skill. I think that I am going to go through these steps with Stephen to get my life up and running with enthusiasm or peace, which ever needs to be expressed at the time.
LENS neurofeedback is good for you. It can not hurt, it only improves the brain to work at an optimal level. Thank-you for your time. This habit is called synergize. Here is quote from Stephen, "The essence of synergy is to value differences--to respect them, to build on strengths, to compensate for weaknesses. Once people have experienced real synergy, they are never quite the same again. They know the possibility of having other such mind-expanding adventures in the future." This is the habit of creative cooperation. Synergy is celebrating differences, teamwork, open-mindedness, and finding new and better ways together. It's a process that doesn't just happen. Through this process you can find new alternatives and options that were not thought of before. One of the themes is to interact together genuinely and be open to others influence. This adds the magic of producing something that just one person could not produce.
Try LENS it can help to synergize the brain cells to work in a more productive way. |
