Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
Researchers from Brown University have been studying the effects of 2 different learning systems. One of the systems is called reinforcement learning. This system works on the neural level and is related to reward and punishment. The second system is called working memory. This system works with the previous learned ability to keep actions and the outcomes in mind to more rapidly and flexibly improve performance.
These researchers are finding that these 2 systems work together, when the previous thought was that they worked independently. The researchers set up a process of reward and watched the brain as it worked through different problems. They watched the results on a EEG. They found that the 2 different systems worked together to get the task done with out competition or dulling each other. (What our brains do on a basic level we should learn to do within our relationships.) What drives this experiment is learning about the 2 different learning systems and how they interact to understand learning. We can learn to have a greater impact on learning defects. LENS neurofeedback can help the brain to work in greater synchronicity. It can help all of the systems to do the beautiful dance that it was created to do.
