Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
The medication that is given to children for ADHD is called Methylphenidate, also called Ritalin or Concerta. This medication is given to 5.2 percent of the American population of children between the ages of 2 and 17.
A study from the University of Amsterdam had children and adults take the medication over a 16 week period. These were people that had not been on medications in the past. The study showed that the white matter in young boys was affected. White matter is the part of the brain that carries signals from one part of the brain to another. It also affects learning. This study also showed that the affects were age dependent, the adults were not affected by the medications in the white matter. LENS works well with children. Their brains are still forming and have had less trauma then most adults. I have seen a significant change with children in a short amount of time, with in a couple of months. I would like to see children given the chance to change their brain patterns quickly without the use of medications. It will cost less in the long run, both financially and with brain function improving, emotionally and physically.
