Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
The scientists at Vanderbilt University have been studying the neurons in warm blooded animals and birds. They have found that the more neurons that we have in the cerebral cortex creates our ability to live longer. Body size is not an indicator of longevity. They have found a way to count the number of neurons in the brains of many different species (humans versus the ape, for example). They have compared this study with a longitudinal study of the average life span of a variety of species. So they have been able to conclude that the more neurons we have the longer we will last.
They have also found that the more damages to the brain, the more limited the neurons that are available. This damage impacts the function of the body to a greater degree. The brain is in charge of behavior and the flexibility of the body. This impacts the ability of the body to adjust and react to stressors. LENS neurofeedback can improve the ability of the brain to function. It can help the brain to recover from emotional and physical stressors. This leads to a better functioning body.

I have some friends and family that indulge in marijuana. I am personally disappointed in the effects that I have seen. I miss the interaction of a clearer mind. Please know that this is my opinion. I know that there is a good use for this substance, but I also know that it can lead to a break with this reality that I know. I feel lonely out here, not wanting to impose my beliefs on those that use this stuff. It seems to go against my sense of integrity.
One of the problems that can be created with the use of marijuana is with breathing. Marijuana can create the same breathing problems that smokers have. Marijuana can increase the heart rate for up to 3 hours. So with older people this can increase the chances of a heart attack. When a pregnancy is involved, it can lead to a decrease in birth rate, and an increased risk of brain and behavioral problems. Children can have an increased risk of problems with attention, memory and problem solving. Regular long term use can lead to Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome. This can include cycles of severe nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. Sometimes this needs medical attention. There can be an increase in mental health problems such as temporary hallucination and paranoia. LENS neurofeedback can create a renewed sense of wellness, increased color perception and decreased anxiety. It uses the natural ability of the brain to heal itself. Opioids are prescribed to treat pain. However, the pain relieving effects can lessen as the body becomes more dependent on the substance. Oxycontin was introduced in 1996, and has created a great deal of problems with it's addictive effects. One of the driving factors of drug dependence is that people what to avoid the withdrawal. They will resort to other drugs, such as heroine, as a substitute. It can take up to 8 years to recover from this addiction, and this is to claim sobriety for one year. This can also include 4 to 5 treatment facilities. This, of course can lead to negative effects in personal relationships and finances. The ages that this mostly effects at this time is between 19 and 60+. One of the books that talks to the heart of this epidemic is called Dopesick by Beth Macy.
LENS neurofeedback can help with the brain function of addictions. The price is greatly reduced compared to the other financial problems. The more I research about research, I am amazed at what people are studying. Using an MRI scanner scientists have found that the reward system for food and money was activated when preferred judgements where activated in the participants. This is another way of saying that preferred desires activate the the same neural pathways. The scientists were also able to watch the other activated areas in the brain, that are connected to this neural process. So our wishes activate the same neural system as the urge for food or money. The stronger the wish the stronger the neural connection. And so desires activate the reward system. By avoiding unpleasant information, we avoid threatening conclusions. An example would be, if I avoid the wrong foods and exercise, I will not get some disease.
LENS neurofeedback Researchers have been stimulating the different parts of the brains with people that have two different disorders. One is called akinetic mutism, patients who lack the motivation to move or speak and the other is called alien limb syndrome, this is when patient feel that movement is generated by someone else. Both the desire to act and the feeling of responsibility to act all have problems within different locations in the brain. But all of the networks interconnect. These people are being studied to find the different neural pathways so that they can be helped with brain stimulation. This can also be connected to people that have what is called catatonia, people that seem awake but to not move and motor conversion disorder, frozen limbs or abnormal movements.
I have not been able to work with LENS with people that have this type of severe problem. I do know that if the brain is allowed to heal it can create a new way of functioning. Scientists are developing a new approach to restore hearing loss. In the European Journal of Neuroscience, it is reported that scientists have been able to regrow the sensory hair cells found in the cochlea, a part of the inner ear. This is the part of the ear that converts sound vibrations into electrical signal and can be permanently lost due to age or noise damage. There are 30 million Americans that suffer from some degree of hearing loss. Other animals can restore this function; birds, frogs and fish. They are able to regenerate the sensory hair cells that are called epidermal growth factor (EGF). This activates the cells in birds ears. The researchers are trying to get these cells activated in mice. This is exciting news, we live in amazing times.
LENS neurofeedback can help to restore hearing loss. Contact me to find out! Looking on the internet, I found this definition of concussion, or MTBI, mild traumatic brain injury. It is a brain injury caused by a blow to the head, a violent (!) shaking of the head and body. These injuries are very common, with 3 million cases a year, which occur most of the time to people between the ages of 3 and 40. The evidence also exists, that repeated head injuries are related to dementia. So the age limit could go on from there. The definition also goes on to say that it could be a mild blow to the head with or without loss of consciousness (loss of consciousness in my book, indicates a severe blow to the head). This blow to the head can also lead to temporary cognitive symptoms, including headache, confusion, lack of coordination, memory loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, ringing in the ears, sleepiness, and excessive fatigue. (Are all of these symptoms mild? With a combination of some they seem to be causing a problem.) The medical community, not including me, says that there is no cure. The best advice is to rest and restrict activities to allow the brain to recover. Has anyone tried to do this with a child or a teenager? So they also recommend that there is a temporary reduction in sports, video games (YAY!!!), TV (YAY!!!) and not too much socializing.
LENS neurofeedback can release those areas that have become inflexible due to any emotional or physical damage. Give it a try. I cannot say that it is a cure, but it helps. The mitochondria are tiny little power houses in the body that are in charge of the energy in the cells, that the body produces. The research is pointing to these little power houses as a source of continued stress for the body. When the fight or flight system is activated in the body then mitochondria kick in and work to get the system up and running fast. The problem is that these little guys then start running, and continue running, through the blood stream looking like a hormone that is similar to cortisol. So the body then continues in the stress mode, creating havoc. There has been research lately that connects the fight or flight response to increased depression, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS and asthma. The levels of mitochondria floating in the system is increased by depression and suicide attempts. There is also an increased mitochondria DNA mutation with autism, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, arthritis, and cancer. So now that we have that all figured out, let's step back.
LENS neurofeedback gets the brain running in the right direction. The system creates a state of relaxation. It is a great way of keeping the body in a lower stress mode. The researchers at the Minnesota Medical School have been working on the aging process. They have found that it starts at the cellular level. The cells that are connected to the aging process are called senescene cells. These cells will eventually cause tissue dysfunction and also the related health problems. The researchers put these cells into animals which created a faster aging process. They then reversed some of the damage by putting in senolytics that can reverse the impact of the aging cells. They were able to measure the difference. Just think these cells could be in our next energy drink.
The cells that create aging, senescene are impacted by the immune system. We can create our own pathway of youth by the food that we choose to eat and the environment that we live in. The aging process is impacted by 30% genetics and 70% environmental impacts. So get out and take a walk and eat some good nutrition. Get rid of the soda pop. LENS neurofeedback can create a better environment in the brain, which impacts the rest of the body. If you live in Colorado Springs please come to my meetup group on Tuesdays between 5 and 7. I will give you a free demo of the system that I use. The address is 224 E. Willamette. |
