Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
Our society seems to be swimming in a flood of anxiety. I see people that do not understand what this implies and do not want to admit that they even have such a thing lurking around them. I see people that do not want to admit that their depression is making them into a black hole. We have to first realize that these emotions are living in us before we can get a handle on how they are affecting our lives. If we admit that these emotions are in us then something can be done.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 19.1% of adults struggle with anxiety disorder, this was measured between 2001 and 2003. I can only imagine that the percentage is going up. Some of the scientists at the University of Utah have been studying mice, in relation to anxiety. They have been able to work with a part of the brain called microglia. Withing the microglia is what is called Hoxb8, which is linked to the DNA of the same name. These microglia seek out and destroy pathogens They are also connected to being able to suppress OCD and anxiety. Sort of like a nice blanket. However, they also are connected to Alzheimer's and other neurogenerative diseases. What this study found is that the microglia can be hijacked at the developmental stage of adolescences. So they are finding a hormonal link. This is exciting news for the 38% of adolescent girls and the 26.1 adolescent boys. LENS neurofeedback can help with anxiety. It helps the brain to work with itself and calm down.

Here is another brief explanation from Psychology Today about Trauma. Trauma can cause immense distress-that you might not want to relive. And it can have a long term effect on the person's well being. Time does not always make the trauma go away or better. Many do not just get over it.
Giving your brain permission to process the trauma can cause intense emotions, cognition's and physiological responses. It can get the amygdala to go into the flight, fight or freeze with memories attached. Research has shown that the amygdala can keep activated and can relive the experience of trauma when triggered by a similar event. I have found that when the brain is triggered by memories, this can lead to a response that is lower than the higher functioning brain. This is a low brain response. This part of the brain is nonverbal. It is difficult to grab on to this memory. LENS neurofeedback can help the brain to calm down and process the stimulus that is blocking the way to freedom from anxiety or any other condition. I believe that creativity is a good place to stir up the pot of life. It is where original ideas are found. But first you must be able to find that creative place in yourself and keep the fires burning. I found an article on the Psychology Today website that helps to define the different parts and pieces of creativity and how it is related to passion. Here is a little synopsis.
Creativity is not fueled by just one emotion, the secret is how we use pleasant and unpleasant experiences and thoughts. There are all of the emotions there, joy, happy combined with frustration and stress and all of this is combined with passion. The research of Dr. Julia Moeller of the University of Leipzin in Germany states that passion involves four different steps. !. You have a strong desire or a pressing urge. I have an urge to help people to heal their brains. 2. There are goals related to these desires or urges. I keep showing up and working with LENS neurofeedback. 3. Next you build an identity around the activity. I tell people that I am in the business of healing brains. 4. There has to be perseverance in the face of obstacles. I have worked on educating people so that they can see the advantages of having a life of freedom from emotional and physical baggage. (Without Drugs!!!) So we are not always happy or satisfied. We need to learn to press through for the long term goals that we have set for ourselves. Thank-you for coming to my website. LENS works!!! There is gold in, our inner life. If we look to the inner self to find the part of us that contains the real self we have gold. This is where our problems are solved, where we can have a sense of inner peace. The world likes to challenge us with all of it's worries and woes. If we take the time, we can find that inner note, whether it is a musical note or a color that soothes us, look for that way of being. I find great pleasure in watching the autumn leaves, looking at a child's face or just taking a breathe to get back to this inner awareness that is sparkling with beauty.
One of my favorite poets is Rumi. Here is one of his thoughts about life. "Peaceful is the one who's not concerned with having more or less. Unbound by name and fame, he is free from sorrow from the world and mostly from himself". Thank-you for coming to my website. Come and try LENS neurofeedback. It will help you to find that calm inner state. If we go to a doctor, and we have a problem with panic attacks, we will most likely be given a bensodiazephine or something like Xanac to help with this out of control problem. However, (!!!!) this drug can lead to dependence, If you try to get off of this drug without supervision it can lead to seizures. I wonder about how much of the brain is affected by this drug intervention. It can also lead to addiction. Because people become more tolerant of the drug they will need more and more of it to keep the panic at bay.
There were 11,537 deaths related to the use of this drug in 2017. The talk therapy intervention is usually CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy. This therapy can be ineffective if the client is in a panic state and can't remember what the instructions were. LENS neurofeedback can help to keep the brain in a calm state. It can keep the brain from being hijacked by panic. Our attention has been hijacked by all of the media that is in our lives. "We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom". This is a quote from E.O. Wilson a biologist that lived awhile ago. Our information age is taking control of our attention. We can break attention down into two different categories. There is the left brain attention that works in the service of a goal. This type of attention is part of the social media that diverts us from our own objectives. We become a tool that others use with all of the alerts and notifications that we receive. We need to take back our attention to create our own objectives.
The other kind of attention is the right brain version. This is a part of the brain that is open to whatever we have found in front of us without an agenda. It is exploring our environment, much like a child would. This part of the brain helps us to attend to what is happening around us, a good example is looking at the trees that are changing their dresses for the winter. I love the colors. LENS neurofeedback can help the brain to process information, yet it also helps with the ah-ha moments and finding peace in the small things. What the Pre-Columbian Aztecs knew about philosophy is an interesting study. The Aztec's believed that we need to stop searching for happiness, because it is really not what you want. They thought that the constant search for an elevated state of emotional happiness should be replaced by living a worthwhile life. One of the sayings that the Aztec's used is, "the world is slippery, slick. What they meant is that the Earth is a place where humans are prone to error, where our plans are likely to fail, and friendships are often betrayed. Good things only come mingled with something undesired. ‘The Earth is not a good place. It is not a place of joy, a place of contentment,’ a mother advises her daughter, in the record of a conversation that has survived to this day. ‘It is rather said that it is a place of joy-fatigue, of joy-pain.’
I know that this sounds depressing, but I believe that there is some validity to this concept. We live in a world that strives for happiness through material possessions and relationships. If we look at the Aztec way of life we can see how we can step back to find a rooted life. One that based on truth or goodness, taking care of our bodies, psyches and community. We can also write poetry to express the divine in us. LENS helps us to get re-centered in life. Come and give it a try. I was in a car accident in September. This has created a great deal of work and concentration, when my brain feels like it wants to sleep.
I was talking to my doctor. She recommends a great deal of rest and protein. I am working this way into my life. So here we go... Here are the benefits of RELAXATION. Relaxation is first, of all about creating a state of calm and the ability to handle everyday stress. Here is a list of the benefits: It lowers heart rate and blood pressure It lowers the breathe rate It reduces muscle tension It reduces chronic pain It improves mood and concentration It helps to reduce fatigue, anger and frustration. It BOOSTS Confidence, to handle problems So how do we create relation? One of my favorite techniques is visualization, I used to live in Kauai. So I go to the beach there a great deal in my thoughts. I love the sound of the ocean waves. I do a simple breathe exercise. Ten breathes and then I get the breathe to go to my feet up to my head. Simple and yummy. I practice presence. I keep myself from running ahead and looking back and work on NOW. I walk when I can an watch nature. I hope that this helps you. Thank-you for joining me. LENS neurofeedback can create a calm peaceful place in your life. Give it a try!!! |
