Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
Shall we look at some of the traits of what psychologists consider to be a narcissist. Narcissism is marked by selfishness, arrogance, inflated sense of self, and extroversion. They think of themselves as special, unique, and entitled. They can take advantage of others and experience less guilt. They report having more casual sex with more sexual partners and a greater desire for short-term relationships.
Amy Brunell at Ohio State University used 4 different studies to check a behavior that is called mate poaching (this is a scientific term). They tested students to check their narcissistic behaviors to see if they would be attracted to people that were already in a relationship. It turns out that the majority of people are attracted to someone already in a relationship. However, narcissists it did not discriminate if the person was in a relationship. They just wanted to be able to have a low cost sexual encounter, a one night stand. Scientists study these kind of concepts to help us recognize these behavior patterns and keep ourselves safe.
