Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
Researchers from Northwestern University put together an experiment to test how emotions work with persuading people to do something. They found that people tend to be persuaded towards appeals that are emotional, it does not matter if they are negative or positive. We intuitively use more emotional language when we are trying to persuade. Even if we use positive words like outstanding or excellent, these words are overridden with the words exciting and thrilling.
Researchers asked a group of people (over 1,000) to go to Amazon.com to write reviews for products. One group was asked to just describe the product, the other group was asked to persuade people to buy the product. They then used a tool to measure linguistic patterns. They found that using emotional words won out and even appealed to rational thinkers. They also found that words with emotion also helps to connect a better memory. LENS keeps the brain working with a higher impact. We just feel (better) great!!!
