Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
The mitochondria are tiny little power houses in the body that are in charge of the energy in the cells, that the body produces. The research is pointing to these little power houses as a source of continued stress for the body. When the fight or flight system is activated in the body then mitochondria kick in and work to get the system up and running fast. The problem is that these little guys then start running, and continue running, through the blood stream looking like a hormone that is similar to cortisol. So the body then continues in the stress mode, creating havoc. There has been research lately that connects the fight or flight response to increased depression, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS and asthma. The levels of mitochondria floating in the system is increased by depression and suicide attempts. There is also an increased mitochondria DNA mutation with autism, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, arthritis, and cancer. So now that we have that all figured out, let's step back.
LENS neurofeedback gets the brain running in the right direction. The system creates a state of relaxation. It is a great way of keeping the body in a lower stress mode.
