The fundamental rule of plasticity in the brain has been discovered at MIT. The scientists at MIT have proven how neurons in the brain are flexible or plastic. Neurons can learn to create new or stronger connections with other neurons. They have also found that when one synapse strengthens the neighboring synapses weaken. One neuron can effect thousands of other neurons, which in turn can effect the 100 billion interacting neurons in the brain.
The scientists were able to activate the plasticity in the brain of mice in the visual cortex. Through optogenics they were able to change the visual cortex field. They taught the mouses brain to rearrange the neurons. They were able to record this change with a two photon microscope. I would love to be able to play with this equipment. LENS neurofeedback can change the environment in the brain to defrag the the areas that have been compromised by physical or emotional trauma.
