Silence....

What is this concept about? Silence, really?  Why bother with this kind of concept?
The head guys in Finland decided that they would capitalize on this concept of Silence.  Their new brand is "Silence Please" and it is taking off.
What really happens with silence is that it turns on the noise in your head.  It can calm your body, turn up the volume on your inner thoughts and attune our connect to the outer world.
The opposite of this is noise.  The Latin root meaning is queasiness or pain.  Florence Nighingale stated that, "Unnecessary noise is the most cruel absence of care that can be inflicted on the sick or well".
Chronic noise from highways or airports, has been related to high blood pressure.  Noise can also be correlated to sleep loss, heart disease and tinnitus.  The noise is taken into the bones of the ear, to the cochlea, to the brain and then the amyglae sends out the stress signal and bam we have cortisol running through our system.
Even in silence the default mode of the prefrontal cortex of the brain is perpetually active mostly with self-reflection.  Freedom from noise and goal-directed tasks creates quiet within and without.  This is how we can weave ourselves into the world.
Take a stand.  Turn off the T.V., the music and whatever other distracters.  Let the silence in, your hippocampus might just grow some new connections.

LENS neurofeedback can help the brain to find the sweet spot.  It can help you to become calm and less distracted.
