Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
Researchers at Aalto University are looking into the brain with fMRI (functional magnetic imaging) to see what happens when they create different emotions in their subjects. They are finding a more global response in the neural activity, than what they previously thought was being orchestrated by the brain. The researchers found similar brain activity in the brains of all 109 subjects. The images of the emotions were tracked and set into a pattern.
Positive emotions such as happiness, love, gratitude and pride were similar at the level of brain activity, these emotions tend to group themselves in the prefrontal cortex (the higher thinking area). They found that the negative emotions group together in the brain, around the sensory and motor cortex (the mid part of the brain). However, the images of the brain were found to activate in a wide range of overlapping neural networks. LENS neurofeedback creates a smooth balance in the brain. It helps to smooth the connections so the behavioral outcome is calmer and easier to handle.
