Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
OH! I hit my head again. The researchers in Denmark looked at 2.8 million patient cases to access the impact of traumatic brain injuries or in shorthand TBI's. They have a controlled system of medical care. They found that the risk for dementia increased 24% with a TBI. This is broken down into a mild TBI (concussion) at 25% and a severe TBI at 35%. Even if it was a mild TBI the increase in dementia was evident. This did not include all of the cases. The risk for dementia goes up as the amount of TBI"s increase. 33% for 2 or 3 TBI's and up to 183% for 5 or more. WOW!!! The risk for dementia in 20 year old's was 60% percent at the age of 50.
47 million people have dementia in the world today. That is expected to double in the next 20 years. A further explanation for TBI is an external force to the head by a car accident, assaults, and falls. Help your head by limiting alcohol and tobacco. Get regular exercise to help decrease obesity and hypertension. The people in the military and those that are into contact sports are at a higher risk also. I feel like the doom and gloom person. Help yourself with some LENS treatments. These treatments can decrease the amount of trauma to the brain with any kind of impact.
