Come to the calm of a well functioning brain.
The fifth habit is Seek First to Understand, then to be understood. This habit requires big ears or hears. Communication is the most important skill in life. We have been trained to read and write. Listening is the key to really deeply understand another human being from that persons perspective. Then work to be understood. Next to physical survival, psychological survival is a great need. We all need to be affirmed, to be appreciated, and to be understood. Most people listen with the intent to reply and not to understand. This type of listening requires that you use empathic listening. All of your energies are on being with the other person in real time, Forget about yourself and your response. When you respond from your own perspective it is usually to evaluate, probe, advise or interpret.
Genuine listening means suspending memory, desire, and judgement and for a few moments, at least, existing for the other person. Michael P. Nichols LENS neurofeedback can help to calm down the mind chatter, so that you can become an effective listener. This means taking a chance and opening up your eyes and heart, not your mouth. I hope that you like these habits, they are fundamental to becoming a genuine human being.

Win-Win means life is a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. It is a place where the mind and heart seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. The first character foundation is Integrity. This means conforming to your true feelings, values, and commitments. The second trait is maturity, this means expressing your ideas and feelings with courage and consideration for the ideas and feelings of others. The third character trait is abundance mentality, believing there is plenty for everyone. This habit also requires you to be balanced between courage and consideration. You not only have to be empathetic you have to be confident. You not only have to be considerate and sensitive you have to be brave. If you are high on courage and low on consideration you will be in the Win-lose category. If you are high on consideration and low on courage, you will think Lose-Win. I really like this approach to living. I hope that you enjoy it also. Habits are like rabbits, they multiply when loved. LENS neurofeedback does not change behaviors. It does make the person more aware of the impact of their behaviors with others, it helps to make you more aware. Cheers to Life!!. The third habit is to put first things first. You don't have to do everything that comes along, it is O.K. to say no to some things. You don't have to over-extend yourself. This habit is about is about vision, and life management. It helps to cement the first two habits. Find out what you personally find worth doing, not what others have told you to do. Highly effective people do not really manage time, they manage themselves. Stephen then goes on to explain how to find your priorities. He asks you to first find how you spend your time. Are you constantly putting out fires or are you spending time finding your purpose and values? He recommends making a mission statement. This habit is very important. There are many levels to it. It would be good to read the book and get better insights.
LENS neurofeedback is good at balancing your brain and your life. Let's get to it. It doesn't hurt and can only make you better. The habits have much more depth than I am covering here. I hope that you will look closer, they are truly life changing.
The second habit is to begin with the end in mind. This is the ability to envision, see the potential, create with our minds what we cannot at present see with our eyes and conscience. The first part of the creation is mental. This is creating the blue print for what we want our life to look like. You want to travel, go there. but first create the plan. Where, how and when will you get to this place. The second part of your creation is building what you have created from the blue print. What fun you will have when you get to the place you have created. Go to the ocean, go to Alaska, do what you have created. Get and do the job that you have always wanted. Flex your proactive muscles to get the juicy parts of life. LENS can create an environment of less stress in your life. We all need this. Here is the first habit that Steven Covey researched. He found these habits in the people that were effective in life.
Habit number one is be Proactive. This is about taking responsibility for your life. Proactive people are response-able. They don't blame circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior. They know that they choose their behavior. The other type of person is the Reactive type. They are often affected by their physical environment. If the weather is bad, then they feel bad. We have a choice between stimulus and response. Our greatest power is to understand this. A proactive person uses words such as, I can, I will, I prefer, etc. A reactive person does not believe that they have any power over the situation and will say things like, I can't, I must, If only.... I hope that you enjoy this knowledge. It helps. LENS neurofeedback can help to get the road smoothed and straightened out so that the neurons can connect in a good way. Scientists from the Medical Research Counsel in the U.K., which included three different Universities, took a look at the genetics related to depression. Here is a brief synopsis of what they found. They found that in the 20,000 human genes, there are 44 that are linked to depression.
What the researchers found is that some of these genes have an underlying biological relation to the nervous system, which relates to the brain. They also found that the immune system is involved in this biological soup. When the stress goes up the inflammatory response kicks in and then the brain gets involved by also getting inflamed. We all have a risk of developing depression, it is 25%. But if we add in the factor of parents having depression the risk goes up 3 times for the child. If we add into the mix that the child was raised in a environment with a inattentive, depressed parent we can call this part of nurture. How well the parent was able to interact. Depression is the #1 medical disability in the world. Maybe they have been able to open a new door. LENS neurofeedback acts as an anti-inflammatory. It can help to get the brain to run in a smoother way. Einstein had a dingy that he called Tinef, which means worthless or junk. He would go sailing in Nassau even though he did not know how to swim. He would take his fellow scientists out to sea, into a storm and have to be rescued. What a character!!!
Creativity can be defined as making something from nothing. I means going public with bets that are made by imagination. Creatives fail often, and the good ones fail even more. They work at high volumes and have more ways to fail at high volumes. This requires courage with convictions. And the convictions must include the willingness to die over and over. What happens in the brain when we are presented with a risk the baser areas of the brain like to take over, especially if it is dangerous. With a higher risk the brain has to stretch it's muscles. It has to use long distance connections. The bigger the risk the longer the connections. This is a perfect subject for me today. I hope that this information is good for you also. Care to go skydiving anyone? LENS neurofeedback can help to make those long distance connects. Your brain just works better. You do not have to go sailing into a storm to get the connects working better, unless you want too. |
